Annual Agency Conference

ReFocus Theme Teams

Each year, since 1993, the ReFocus Administrative Team, professional staff and clients come together for a two-day, off-site Annual Agency Conference. Facilitated by experts in the field of developmental disabilities and organizational excellence, we focus, as one team, on developing strategies to improve the services and programs we offer to the individuals, their families and other caretakers.

What makes our Annual Agency Conference unique is our Theme Teams, groups of employees who take on the added responsibility of improving how we function as an Agency and expanding the programs and services we offer to our individuals and their families. Each Team sets specific goals, outlines steps to reach those goals and regularly reports on progress to our Administrative Team.

At ReFocus, we know the best suggestions for improving programs, services and how we work often come from those closest to the job at hand. Our Theme Team program has proven us right!  In the past, ReFocus Theme Teams have spearheaded many improvements in quality of life for the folks we serve. They have improved our internal communications. They have developed and expanded Community Center programs – and even played an important role in the acquisition of our first Community Center. The Dream Builders Team has been instrumental in increasing donations to ReFocus over the years for our Auction & Gala.

 

Mission Possible

Mission Possible is on a mission to combine the ReFocus philosophy, mission and values with the unique abilities
of all Agency employees. Through onboarding new staff, recognizing achievement and dedication, and engaging employees socially outside of work activities. 

Happy, Healthy, Wealthy and Wise

To help employees be happy, healthy, wealthy and wise by hosting seminars and offering informative
classes throughout the year. 

Dream Builders

The Dream Builders are a dynamic group of 22 dedicated employees committed to raising funds throughout the year. They organize and assist with a variety of engaging events, such as the Spring Dance, Agency Picnic, Auction & Gala, and Holiday celebration. 
 

Special Olympics

Special Olympics is a global organization that changes lives by promoting understanding, acceptance and inclusion among people with and without intellectual disabilities. We unleash the power of the human spirit through the transformative power and joy of sports, every day around the world.  Through year-round sports, health, education and community building, we change the lives of people with intellectual disabilities in 193 countries. We are providing opportunities and helping fight the intolerance, injustice, inactivity and social isolation faced by our 5.5 million athletes​

Career Paths

This theme team aims to help the employees of ReFocus visualize their career progression within the agency. We endeavor to set milestones, development opportunities, and to provide the skills coaching necessary for them to reach these goals; these milestones may include short- and long-term benchmarks. Career Pathing will align with ReFocus Inc.’s Mission Statement, the RI Core Competencies, and the National Frontline Supervisors Competencies.
Our team is a collaboration of Coordinators, Human Resources, and Administrative staff.

DEIAB
DEIAB is an acronym that stands for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Acceptance and Belonging. It's a set of practices and philosophy that aims to create a safe, inclusive, and equitable environment for employees and others.  DEIAB is important for building a fair and equitable workplace and society. It can lead to better outcomes, employee satisfaction, and a culture of innovation and success
