Employment Services
Employment services for adults with disabilities aim to provide support and resources to help individuals with disabilities find and maintain employment. These services may include job coaching, vocational training, and assistance with job placement. The goal is to help individuals with disabilities achieve greater independence and financial stability through meaningful employment opportunities.
There are numerous benefits of gainful employment for people with disabilities. Supported employment is an effective way to provide an individual with a disability with increased earnings and dignity, and improve the quality of their social relationships.
The most significant benefit is that it is often the first step toward a better quality of life.
The Employment Process
Integrated competitive employment is a fundamental cornerstone of recovery and healthy outcomes for disabled individuals.

Many individuals with developmental disabilities, especially those who have recently aged out of Rhode Island’s educational system, want to work, but with no training or employment options, they and their families and caregivers feel the stress of a society that often sees disabilities, instead of abilities.
Employment Support Services Program offers these families – and “jobseekers” – a step-by-step program, proven to help adults with differing abilities find meaningful, long-term employment at prevailing wages in the community.
Importantly, ReFocus does not set unrealistic timetables for acquiring and retaining a job. Because each of our individuals have differing abilities and skill-sets, some will find a job faster than others. While we always challenge the individuals to move toward their goals, we also respect that each of us moves at her or his own pace.
The ultimate goal of our Employment Support Services Program is more than just finding a job. It’s about ensuring that individuals with differing abilities have more financial independence, more integration in the community, and the improved self-esteem that comes from being a wage-earner in America.
