Special Events & Celebrations
Empower
Growth
Play every day is a key component of the ReFocus philosophy. Simply, recreation is therapy for all of us. For adults with developmental disabilities, research shows that recreational activities have positive physical and cognitive benefits. They improve motor skills, agility and balance; reduce depression, anxiety and negative thinking; and improve social and communication skills, which for some of our individuals increases opportunities for employment and independent living.
In addition to daily recreational activities at our Community Centers and group homes, ReFocus offers a variety of special events throughout the year – all based on an individual's interests and abilities.
Spring Dance
Our Spring Dance is an evening filled with a night of dancing and fun! With great music, exciting prizes, and a lively atmosphere, it's sure to be a night to remember.
Summer Picnic
What's better than spending a summer day with good food and great friends?
Our picnic is the perfect way to do just that! We have games, many raffles and lots of fun!
Auction & Gala
This special event is celebrated every autumn and offers several opportunities to support the ReFocus mission: sponsorships, reserving tables, purchasing individual tickets, the Irish Cottage vacation raffle and donating items for the silent auction. It’s truly a gala event.
Agency Conference
& Theme Teams
Each year, since 1993, the ReFocus Administrative Team, professional staff and individuals come together for a two-day, off-site Annual Agency Conference. Facilitated by experts in the field of developmental disabilities and organizational excellence, we focus, as one team, on developing strategies to improve the services and programs we offer to the individuals, their families and other caretakers.
Holiday Party
The annual holiday party is a favorite event!
All staff and individuals enjoy a night of festive fun, delicious food, and great company.
Special Olympics
Special Olympics is a global movement that unleashes the human spirit through the transformative power and joy of sports, every day around the world. Through sports, health, education and community programming, Special Olympics is tackling inactivity, intolerance, isolation and injustice that people throughout the world face, especially people with intellectual disabilities.
